My K-12 Arts Curriculum is based directly on the State and National Arts Standards.

How you are
graded
50% class work ethic
40% completed Art project
10% Tests/quizzes/sketchbook
Any projects or absences that are not turned in or present will show in my grade book as a 0 until the absence is cleared or the project is turned in. I do this in order to prevent a false grade in the class. For example you may have been absent the day a project was due. When you come back you forget to turn it in. If I do not put a zero it will mean the difference between you thinking you have an A when in actuality you have a B because the project is not turned in.
When looking in my grade book you may on occasions see letters instead of grades
AB= ABSENCE
T= TARDY
B= BEHAVIOR
INC= INCOMPLETE
TK=TALKING
These are simply abbreviations to help remind me why I reduced the grade and hold no numeric value.
Daily Points add up
10pts per day 40 weeks total by the end of the week
Examples that bring this grade down but not exclusive to:
*being tardy
*talking excessively or at inappropriate times as well as language choice.
*frequent trips to the restroom
*never having a pencil (the first few times I will be happy to loan you…however after 3 it will result in a grade deduction)
*attitude
All art students are required to put teacher specified work in all art shows.
Students are required to Matt and label their own work. This is part of a project grade.
Each art peace excluding 3 dimensional works must have two typed labels, one bottom right and one on the back upper right. All art work must be ready for showing one week prior to the art show date. We will have a Fall Art show, Pueblo Art Guild ,OJC Arts Festival, and a Spring Art show. Some student work may be chosen for the CASBY Art show held in December. (All art works will be returned to you after the final art show in May). For a more detailed list of shows see teacher website.
Be prepared for class. Seniors will be required to build a senior portfolio consisting of 8 to 12 works of art. They will be responsible for setting up the items as well as picking up all items for the OJC Art Festival.
Students should always have the following items for class:
*PENCIL *ERASER
*SKETCHBOOK (We will create) *THUMB DRIVE
